BIO

Dr. Dhruba Shrestha is a senior pediatrician in Nepal, known for his expertise in Pediatric Medicine, Critical Care, Pediatric/Fetal Echocardiography, and Pediatric Nutrition. He currently serves as the Senior Consultant and Head of the Department of Pediatrics at Siddhi Memorial Hospital in Bhaktapur, Nepal. In addition to his administrative responsibilities, he also oversees the Neonatal and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at the hospital, which is renowned as one of the best in Nepal.

Dr. Dhruba Shrestha has made significant contributions to maternal and child health through his services and research endeavors. He has conducted numerous studies and collaborated with prestigious international institutions. His research work has focused on various aspects of pediatrics, with a particular interest in critical care and pediatric echocardiography.

Dr. Shrestha obtained his MBBS degree from B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan, in 2008. He further pursued a specialization in Pediatrics, completing his MD from the National Academy of Medical Sciences (Kanti Children’s Hospital) in 2013. Recognizing the importance of nutrition in pediatric care, he pursued a Post-Graduation in Pediatric Nutrition (PGPN) from the Boston University School of Medicine, USA, in 2015. This additional training allows him to address cases involving feeding difficulties, obesity, and malnutrition in children.

To expand his expertise in echocardiography, Dr. Shrestha completed a Post-graduate Diploma in Clinical Echocardiography from JROP Institute of Echocardiography and Vascular Doppler in New Delhi, India, in 2020. He is proficient in performing echocardiography for adults, neonates, pediatrics, and fetal cases. His specialization in pediatric echocardiography makes him one of the few experts in this field in Nepal.

Furthermore, Dr. Shrestha has received training in Tropical Medicine from Nagasaki University, Japan. He actively participates in teaching tropical medicine to students pursuing the Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (DTMH) at the university.

Dr. Shrestha’s extensive qualifications, experience, and expertise in the field of pediatrics, critical care, pediatric/Fetal echocardiography, and nutrition make him a respected figure in the medical community in Nepal. His dedication to improving maternal and child health, as well as his involvement in research and teaching, demonstrates his commitment to advancing the field of pediatrics in his country.

Throughout his professional career, Dr. Dhruba Shrestha has continued to study and conduct research on many topics. Being a pediatrician, Dr. Dhruba has focused mainly on research for child health and maternal health. But he has conducted research on various other topics as well.
